Choosing the Right T-Shirt Niche

When designing and selling t-shirts it is important to make sales. Without sales your business will go bankrupt very soon. The easiest way to sell a custom design is to focus on a specific market called a niche.

What is a niche?

A niche is a specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service. This concept can be applied to any product or service including t-shirt businesses and screen printing. An example of a niche would be a siamese cat lover. Cat is very broad as a topic. However, siamese narrows the focus. This is niching down. It is becoming more focused.

Why is a Niche so Important?

A niche is important because it allows a business to market specifically to the customers who have a passion for that niche. Siamese cat lovers are very different people than Persian cat lovers. A Persian cat lover would not be as likely to purchase a product designed for a Siamese cat lover. Whereas the Siamese cat lover would think that a product created with their interests in mind is very special. A niche helps define business strategy.

T-shirt companies use niches all the time to sell their products. T-shirt designers know everything about their niches and can design the perfect t-shirt for the customer who is highly motivated by that niche.

How Do I Come Up With The Perfect Niche

There are so many niches available in the world that it may be quite overwhelming. Choosing the right niche is difficult and most people have no clue where to start. The best advice that we can give is to start with your passions. What are your interests? What are your hobbies? This will give you an idea of what you may want to design and who you may want to market to. That does not mean that you are relegated to only designing for that market. You can choose more than one niche to market to. The point is to know each niche so well that creating products just for them comes naturally.

We’ve come up with a niche list to get you started.
