How To Increase Screen Printing Profits

So you’ve started your screen printing business and you want to make more money. (Who wouldn’t want to make more money?) Which means that you have to start thinking like a business owner.

Running a business is difficult. Remember you are not alone. Other business owners have been in the same situation. We’ve compiled a list of ideas for you to increase profits in your screen printing business.

Add New Screen Printing Products

This is the easy one. Diversify your product base. Just offering t-shirts is not enough. Offer more items to your customers and that in turn will lead to more sales. Consider other options that your customers will love. Print hats. Print mugs. There is an endless supply of items that you can offer to your customers. Check out our blog post 10 additional products you can sell to your customers for more ideas.

Hire a Salesperson

This is a big step for a business. Hiring employees can be stressful and exciting at the same time. As a business owner you wear a lot of hats. You're in charge of sales, design, accounting, and manufacturing. You can make more money by finding somebody that knows how to sell and let them bring in new customers. As an added benefit of increased sales you may also find yourself with more free time to devote to other aspects of your business.

Screen Printing Upsells

Yes the customer came in for just a simple t-shirt, but you may be able to talk them into handing over more of their hard earned cash. If you can get them to switch from a simple cotton t-shirt to a better, more expensive type of shirt then you make more money on each sale. We’ve compiled a list of the most common screen print upsells for you. Read our article Great Screen Print Upsells for some terrific ideas.

Recycle Your Screens

Those screens are worth some money. Most screens are made with aluminum which is a metal that can be recycled. Look around your shop. Surely, there are some old screens that you don’t need anymore. Sell them for scrap and add that cash to the bottom line. Or better yet, you can re-stretch your screens or exchange them for better screens. Better screens save you time and money.

Take Better Care of Your Screen Printing Equipment

Equipment is expensive. Proper maintenance can help protect your investment and cut down on repairs. Fix up those old screens. Clean the grime off of mechanical parts. Check for loose screws. You don’t want to have to constantly replace your screen print equipment because it is worn out.

Purchase Better Equipment

Most screen printing businesses start small with just the bare minimum to get them going. This means that the equipment is basic and can get the job done. However, there is equipment that allows you to print shirts faster and dry them faster as well. Consider investing in an automatic screen print machine or even a conveyor dryer. With the better equipment you may be able to take on jobs that were previously out of reach. Better jobs mean better money.

Build strong relationships

Business owners are important to the communities that they serve. It is not uncommon for a screen printer to serve the same high school or church for years. In turn they recommend you to their own circle of friends. Working with the community can reap untold benefits. Increase your relationships and increase your sales. You’ll be glad you did.

Wrap-Up

You can make more money in screen printing. The options are endless. Be creative and work diligently and you may come up with your own crazy ideas that make you more money. Make your business a cash cow today.
